Consignors

Keith, Sue, Kevin and Katie reside just south of Northwood, IA. Their family farm is comprised of 500 acres of cropland and a 40 head Maine-Anjou and club calf cow/calf operation. They keep busy promoting their show heifers and in the last couple of years the grandkids have started showing too! It is truly a family-run operation and in the Braun household there is an awful lot of family. They are guaranteed to bring you good natured and well presented calves, that are all grandkid approved!
The Braun Show Cattle herd is made up of mainly Maine-Anjou cattle with an emphasis on show heifers and powerful genetics. The program consists of numerous donor cows including K&A Tempest 762T, K&A Celest 517R, TNR Party Girl, and FJH 15T Pretty O’Malley, as well as an up and coming donor KBSC Veronica 838U, the 2010 National Western Stock Show Champion High % Maine-Anjou Heifer (Junior Show). In addition to a strong maternal base, Braun Show Cattle owns three Maine bulls. They include BPJV The Maine Man (DCC The Man x Dream Annie)and two bulls that are co-owned with Bremer Show Cattle, BSC Simplicity 44U (Ali x Money Man) and K&A Unitas 30U (K&A Travel Agent 39R x 440P Kasanova Daughter). The vision of the Braun Show Cattle partnership is to provide high quality cattle, with show appeal, that will go on to be functional and sound breeding stock for their operation and yours.
Numerous county fair champions, several open show class and division champions, Reserve Market Heifer at the 2009 Kentucky Beef Expo, as well as raising the red Heat Wave x Who Made Who steer, shown by Mandy Maurer, that went on to win many class and division championships and top 5 placings in 2008.

AC Cattle Co. was formed by Richard and Connie Behmer and their daughter Cam and son-in-law Allen Stateler. Allen and Cam also have two boys, Jeht (8), who began his show career recently at the Iowa State Fair, and Kason (4), who always tries to be a big help to mom and dad. Richard and Connie's daughter Jami also helps with the operation. They all reside at Hoskins, Ne. Richard and Connie are employed off the farm in the agriculture field. Allen is a beef nutritionist for Hubbard Feeds. Cam takes care of their two boys as well as the herdsman responsibilities and show cattle. The entire family also enjoys their herd of quarter horses in their spare time. AC Cattle Company runs about 100 cows with ChiMaine, ChiAngus, Maine and Simmental genetics. The primary focus is showing and selling breeding stock. Recently the family has been breeding some crossbred show calves and they are certainly having success. They have raised and shown many local and county fair champions and many individual and pen champions at Denver. They raised the Grand Champion Feeder Calf at the 2009 Iowa State Fair and that great heifer sold at Club Calf Paradise last year. She has a full sister in the sale this year. Make sure you take a look.

David and Robin Cornelius and their kids love the livestock industry. There are three kids in the Cornelius herd: Jessica is a senior Animal Science major at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and is a member of the Livestock Judging team. Mitchell will be a freshmen this fall at SECC and will study Production Livestock Science and Rebecca is a Freshmen in high school. The Cornelius family runs about 160 beef cows and also farms corn, beans, wheat and hay. David has been AI’ing cows for 27 years, since he was a freshmen in high school. Each of the kids are starting their own herds within the family operation. The Cornelius cowherd is mostly Angus with Maine and Simmental crosses. The family is starting to raise some show calves and you won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to see what comes out of this operation in the future! With all those animal science genetics in the family, we expect greatness.

Nick is a hard working college student who just loves the show cattle business. He has been showing his own calves since 2001 and has been very active in 4-H and the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association. In 2006 he showed the #3 overall high point breeding heifer in the state of Iowa. If you are familiar with the Iowa junior shows, you know that is no small feat. Nick and his parents have been raising show calves for some time. Nick is trying to keep a small herd of exceptional females together while he completes his education. Most of these cows are Nick’s former show heifers, and they are raising the right kind. Nick has been showing his consignments at the feeder calf shows in western Iowa and these calves already have hauled home a bunch of purple. Don’t miss Nick’s consignments. You can help him fund his college education!

The Maass family is Barry and Susie and their three herdspersons: Jeremy, age 16; Stephanie, age 13; and Hunter, age 8. The family loves their cattle. Jeremy started his show career at age 7 and has never looked back. Stephanie refuses to be outdone by her brothers and has shown the champion market heifer and overall reserve market beef animal at the county fair. The heifer has turned into one of the family and is proving herself as an outstanding cow. Hunter is the head herdsman and loves being in charge of the calves. He is getting his start in the show ring at a young age. The Maass kids have had success in the market shows and the feeder calf shows.
The Maass cowherd is mostly angus based. They have been keeping some outstanding replacement females and are building consistency into their herd. Last winter the Maass family grabbed some of Derek Drury's great cows on his dispersal sale. If you follow the show calf industry, you know the reputation of Derek's cows. Barry and Susie and their family of herdsmen are going to carry on Derek's tradition. The family has already sold some good calves that have gone on to win some purple. The addition of Derek's cows to the Maass herd should help the family kick it up a notch. Jeremy keeps track of the genetic trends in the business and the family works together to make breeding decisions. The Maass family has a long range plan and we are very happy to be included in that plan. We welcome the Maass family to Club Calf Paradise and look forward to marketing their calves. Please look hard these calves. You won't be disappointed.

Chris and Kareen Vaught own and operate Vaught’s Silver Maple which is located 15 miles north of Lawrence, KS or 30 miles west of the American Royal Complex. Except for his cattle business, Chris is retired and Kareen works as a registered vet tech. Chris and Kareen’s grown children also help with the operation. The kids are son, Clint, and daughter Coriann and her husband, Jesse. The Vaught operation is focused on embryo transfer. They own some great donor females and flush a few every year. They put embryos in at their own place and in a cooperator herd in Southeast Kansas. The focus of their ET program in not on any one breed. They focus on high quality show cattle. The Vaught’s raised and sold the high selling bull at the 2010 Iowa Beef Expo Shorthorn sale. Chris and Kareen are good folks and we are honored to have their cattle in our sale. Kareen helped us out on picture day this year and also stuck around to help rinse and blow for a few days. It was a pleasure to have the help and the company. If you are ever in the Kansas City area, you need to give Chris and Kareen a call. The coffee is always on.

Dan and Amber Bates have been great customers of Club Calf Paradise for several years. Dan and Amber and the kids, Avery (12) and Trista (10) have a great eye for show calves and they pick the winners every year. Avery has shown TEN grand champions in his first three years showing calves. Trista is hot on his heels. The Bates family loves their cattle and the show calf industry. Nobody does it better! Dan and Amber have been scouting the country the last few years and have gathered up some exceptional cows. They are going out of their way to keep their cowherd very maternal and structurally sound. You can see that in the calves they have consigned. They intentionally keep their numbers small and their cattle are only handled on foot – never crowded or chased with four wheelers. You can tell the difference in their cattle. They are quiet and they like people. Our kind of cattle. We are glad the Bates family has joined us as consignors and we look forward to having them around for many years. It is always a treat for us when Avery and Trista come running down the road to the bunkhouse!

The Petersens farm, run a large cow-calf operation and a feedlot. Bailey loves showing calves and has shown some of the better Maine heifers going in recent years. Brandee loves showing calves but she also loves the sheep business and has had her own success showing lambs. This is the first year for the Petersen family to consign cattle to Club Calf Paradise. We have a soft spot for kids that love to work with their animals and these two girls fit the bill. The Petersens run around 280 cows and have 40 replacement heifers ready to go into the herd. Their genetics are mostly Maine, Angus and Simmental. They utilize AI and ET to advance their program. We are glad to have the Petersen’s join the Club Calf Paradise family this year and we certainly hope to market the top end of their calf crop in future years. We know we can count on Bailey and Brandee to have the calves ready!
