need to know to consign your best calves.

1. The Club Calf Paradise Labor Day Sale sees visitors from over twenty states every year. Our sale is well attended by the largest show steer and heifer buyers in the nation as well as by families from all over the nation. In addition, every calf will be seen on the internet. The buyers at the Labor Day sale are looking for the cream of the show calf crop. High end calves bring top dollar. We can provide the buyers if you provide your best calves. Quality demands a premium at Club Calf Paradise.

2. We charge a commission equal to twenty percent of your calf’s selling price or twenty percent of your base price, whichever is greater. We provide all of the magazine advertising, internet advertising, video and photo services and direct mail advertising. This year we plan to video every calf and post that video on our web site. We provide all of the marketing and we will get your calf broke to tie, clipped, rinsed and looking the best for the sale. All you have to do is have your calf weaned early, vaccinated and started on feed. We handle the rest!

3. Our commission is calculated on the gross sale price of your calf or your base price if your calf does not sell. When you consign your calf to Club Calf Paradise you will be asked to set a base price for your calf. This is the minimum amount at which you will sell your calf. If you set your base price at $2000 and your calf does not sell, you will owe a commission of $400 (20% of $2000). This encourages consignors to consign their best calves and also to base price them at reasonable amounts. We recommend base pricing steers at no more than $1200 and heifers at $1500 however, you are free to base your consigned calves at whatever amount you choose. We have found that it is better to base your calves low and let the bidders set the market. Good calves always bring good money. Once again, only consign your best.

4. Your commission covers all of your sale expenses. There is no charge for feed, yardage, clipping, advertising or anything else. We cover all of the expenses. We advertise in The Showbox, The Show Circuit and other periodicals and we maintain the Club Calf Paradise web site. Your calf will get exposed to the largest market possible.

5. We will need your calves delivered to Club Calf Paradise by July 6. We will get your calf washed, clipped and in most cases - broke to tie. We will video all calves in July and post them on the Club Calf Paradise website in early August.

6. Your calves need to be weaned and vaccinated (at least once, preferably twice) prior to delivery. Calves should be well started on a show calf ration as early as possible. We can help you with ration formulation if you desire. You will also need a health certificate to deliver your calf to Club Calf Paradise. Your calves must be healthy and eating well before delivery. We cannot let you deliver any calves with health concerns.

7. After completion of the auction, we will maintain possession of your calf until the new owner takes delivery. We will collect the gross sale price from the buyer and will retain our commission and give you a check for the net proceeds. We cannot pay you until the buyer pays for your calf in good funds. We are acting as an agent only to bring buyers and sellers together. When a winning bidder purchases your calf by being the highest bidder, that bidder has agreed to purchase the calf from you, not from us. You own the calf and only you can sell the calf. We will do everything possible to collect the purchase price and get the calf to the new owner as early as possible. You need to know, however that some of the buyers who purchase and sell lots of calves sometime leave the calves in our possession for an extended period of time. You will not get paid for your calf until the buyer pays us in good funds and takes possession of the calf. We wish all buyers would take possession and pay immediately. That is just not the way this business works. We recognize that these buyers help make Club Calf Paradise what it is and we value their business. We will accommodate reasonable requests regarding delivery and maintaining calves for sometime.
