Denison Dining & Accommodations

Since you are traveling to Western Iowa we thought we would give you some advice on food and accommodations.  There are several motels in Denison and many restaurants and bars.

Dining

Cronks Café
812 Highway 30
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-4191

Cronks is an institution in Western Iowa.  It is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the state. Cronks has it all.  The best breakfast in town, home cookin’ for lunch and dinner, a nice bar to meet and unwind at night and a prime rib on the weekend if you want it. If you stop in here, ask for Eric and let him know you are in town for the calf sales.  Eric is a great host and he will take great care of you.  If you have the kids along, this is the place for you. Cronks is almost a tourist attraction on its own!  There is usually room in the parking lot to park your truck and trailer. If there isn’t room you can park across the street behind the motel or you can park your rig at our place and we’ll loan you a car . . . or a bicycle.

The Pub and B & D’s Grill
534 Highway 39 North
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-4070

B & D’s is located in The Pub about a quarter mile right down the road from Club Calf Paradise. The Pub is a local bar and B & D’s Grill is the adjacent steak house and restaurant.  The Pub gets to be a rocking place on weekend nights during club calf season. Several Texas cowboys have been spotted closing the bar down. The food is great, the service great and the air smoky!  You can’t have everything!  Plenty of parking for trucks and trailers.

El Jimador Mexican Grill
Main Street
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-2579

If you like authentic Mexican food this is the place for you. Gerardo Leon owns and operate El Jimador and he knows Mexican food. This is a great place for some southwest flair. We recommend Burritos Jimador and Pollo Yucatan, but you can’t go wrong. They also serve the best Margarita in town according to some of our friends who have had one!  No room to park a trailer up town, but you can park at our place and we’ll get you there if you want to go.

Pizza Hut
533 Highway 39
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-9308

Just a quarter mile south of Club Calf Paradise across the road from The Pub. Pizza. Enough said.

Wulfy’s
520 Wolf Street
Deloit, Iowa 51441
712-263-4404

Wulfy’s is five miles north of Club Calf Paradise but it is worth the drive. Bob and Sandy are your hosts and they know how to feed their friends. Ask for the Big Bob Burger and tell them Brad and Juli sent you. If you are headed north anyway, you better stop in and say “hi”.

Accommodations

The Park Motel
Highway 30
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-4144

The Park is probably the oldest motel in Denison and the building is on the National Register.  It is locally owned and operated and has some theme suites and jacuzzi tubs. The Park is located right across Highway 30 from Cronks Café. The rates are reasonable and the rooms are clean. There is plenty of trailer parking in back.  If we needed to stay in a motel in Denison, Iowa, this is where we would stay!

Super 8 Motel
Highways 30, 59 & 141
Denison, Iowa 51442
800-428-0684
712-263-5081

The Super 8 is located just west of the The Park and Cronks and is handy to get to. You’ll see it right on the west edge of town. They have trailer parking.

Days Inn
Junction 59 & 30
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-2500

The newest motel in town.  Located just south of the Super 8 and also easy to get to. They also have plenty of trailer parking. We haven’t heard a bad words about any of these motels.

Ho-Hum Motel
Highway 30 West
Denison, Iowa 51442
712-263-3843

The Ho-Hum is a locally owned and operated quaint little hotel.  We hear this is the favorite of the regular travelers through Denison.  They have antique decorated individual cabin like rooms.  Once again, we haven’t stayed here but we certainly would if we needed to.  Parking a trailer might be a little difficult here.  The Ho-Hum is located right on Highway 30 about a half block east of Cronks.
